By Kay Augustine
According to Luke,
when an angel of the Lord appeared to
shepherds abiding in their fields, and
the glory of the Lord shone ‘round about them,
they were terrified.
But the angel said to them,
“Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you
good news of a great joy
which will come to
all the people.”
Now
we abide in our fields
our little towns,
our cities, and
Darkness threatens us;
the news is not good, and
we are sometimes
terrified; still
We remember
how silently, how
silently the wondrous gift
is giv’n… No ear may
hear its coming, but…
Angels
from the realms of glory
wing their flight o’er
all the earth… and
Faith, hope, and
love
remain our in-
spiration.
Breathe.
Breathe in.
Remember joy!
