Summer’s End – Three Haikus

By Wyn Mecherly

Last rose of Summer
Grown large, to catch the sun's rays
Which grow weaker now
-----

Pale green milkweed pods
Still closed, cling to a firm stalk
Seeds waiting to fly
-----

Tall thistle in bloom
Blush pink, like the setting sun
Lovely, but don't touch!
