Tomorrow & Tomorrow &

By CJ Muchhala

  The sloth of winter
creeps in its lugubrious pace from day to barren day
& all our yesterdays have dimmed to dusk
 within our snow-bound brains.

 Come out, wan sun!
Stay a little longer, wax a little stronger
till grimy snow relinquishes its place
to seed or bud & Earth becomes
a vivid green lit up with birdsong.

Then life will once more strut onstage, a vibrant tale
told by a toddler splashing through spring
puddles, full of giggles & discoveries,
 signifying joy.
