About Quaker Meetings via Zoom

By Don Pardee

Dear Friends,

Since March 22, 2020, Milwaukee Friends Meeting has been holding Sunday Meeting for Worship each week by teleconference.

We have had a surprisingly successful implementation of Zoom with 40-50 regular Quaker members and/or attenders each week.

I would like to extend many thanks to Terri Piszczor, Elizabeth Evans, John Zweifel, and Ravenna Helson for acting as co-hosts at various times. We could not have done this without them.

The delight of ‘seeing and hearing’ people from our community each week is palpable. We are following our normal Meeting agenda with worship, joys and sorrows, announcements, closing circle and social time.

One note: As the in-person Meeting for Worship may not be possible for some time, Assistance is Needed for co-hosting Sunday Meeting for Worship via Zoom:

Please contact Don Pardee or Terri Piszczor to volunteer. They can explain what the co-hosts do to make Zoom work well each week. ( or )

The delight of ‘seeing and hearing’ people from our community each week is profound.

The ‘silence’ in our online Meetings for Worship is long and deep. Of course it’s not the same as being together in person, but given the circumstances of the pandemic, it has provided us with a way to gather safely on Sunday mornings to be ‘in the Light’.

It feels nice remaining connected in this way.
